Tool Description:

The Cross-32 Meta-Assembler from Universal Cross-Assemblers is a table based macro cross-assembler. By using a flexible instruction table structure, it assembles source code for the Intel 8051, 80196 and 80251 microcontroller families, written in the original manufacturer¦s mnemonics. Support for these three microcontroller families, and several other Intel devices are all included in one pack-age. Cross-32 reads your assembly language source file and a corresponding assembler instruction table, and writes a list file and an absolute hexadecimal machine file in the binary or Intel 8- or 16-bit formats. The hexadecimal file can then be downloaded to most EPROM programmers, EPROM emulators and in-circuit emulators, such as Needham¦s EMP-20 device programmer. Should an assembly syntax error be found, the integrated development environment will automatically display an error message and high-light the offending text.
Cross-32 saves the cost of purchasing many individual assemblers and reduces the time needed to learn numerous different products. The user may also create their own processor tables or modify ours. Since many new processor¦s assembly language instruction sets are merely super-sets of one of the processors included with Cross-32, this can be as simple as adding several lines to an existing table. Therefore, as new microcontrollers are introduced, the assembler does not become obsolete, and your investment is protected. Cross-32 is available in MS-DOS and Windows versions.
